Guime and the surrounding area:
Our beautifully restored 200 year old finca nestles in the sleepy original Canarian village of Guime. The village has 1 bar 'the Socialdad'. a meeting place for the villagers. Within the village and just a few minutes walk from the property is a small friendly village delicatessen. They sell just about everything, freshly baked bread, meat, fish locally grown fruit and vegetables all fresh of course.
Many of the fields are covered with a distinctive layer of 'Pecon' (ground volcanic rock). Pecon absorbs the night dew and gives water to the plants and vegetation. It enables local farmers to grow, sweet corn, vegetables, grapes and fruit in abundance.
The upmarket marina Puerto Calero has a good selection of restaurants overlooking the harbour. Here you can enjoy some of the oceans finest and freshest produce or simply while away a few hours watching the world go by. For the more adventurous, deep sea fishing, submarine and catamaran trips can all be arranged locally.
Puerto del Carmen is the main tourist resort with copious amounts of bars, restaurants and night life! The white beach stretches for several miles.
Playa Blanca, a short drive from the finca offers quiet naturist beaches. A ferry can be taken for trips to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. |
